Way too many pictures

So I wanted to say a few things before I put up some pictures. A long time ago I posted on my blog about coincidences, how they happen frequently in regards to what I'm reading. Well, going back to Gravity's Rainbow for a second, there was this time towards the end where Slothrop suddenly sees a gigantic finger pointing at something important, the text including an actual drawing of the finger. Well, what a surprise--I started seeing that finger everywhere after that. In an estate sale I went to with my boyfriend, I saw an old MAD comics book with the finger everywhere. Another time, I was sitting in a Japanese restaurant that I frequently visit when all of a sudden I noticed a sign that had been there forever was removed, and in it's place was the finger!! It was actually scary, I thought I must be going crazy!! I KNOW it was not there before. I guess the paranoia of GR really grew on me.

As to another coincidence, this one is just a little funny. In my Rhetoric of Disney class yesterday, while watching The Little Mermaid, I decided to read a little bit of Pale Fire. The first line my eyes fall on: "the willful mermaid from the old tale." I couldn't believe it! Right when I read that line of the novel, probably the only mention of Little Mermaid, I am watching the movie! I love coincidences :) here are some pictures!

Sit down a beat or two. Hold out your hands. Look. (From Cloud Atlas)

From the MAD comics, I thought this was great!

Thursday's dodo!

Illustration that comes with the book

Scary finger by Akashi Japanese Restaurant

I hear America singing fuck off.

The page that had the finger, of course, HAD to have rockets...

But somebody else than whom? Nameless I came and nameless I go.

A Thursday Next Novel!!

  2. Here's to countless coincidences, living in every text you adventure into (GR at Moe's, reading words that are later said out loud/at the same time). What an absolute pleasure it has been serving as freelance photographer for the blog (the old man portraits of a young female reader...YOU!!!).

DRESS UP AS GRANDPA MORE OFTEN!!!!! <3
